I'll start us off: Men of War $3.74
It's a bit like CoH but it has some differences. To see some vids look for TychoCelchuuu on youtube. Probably not the new clan RTS but it looks pretty good, worth $4.

Brilliant idea

with reviews now going up, which is fantastic to see, I formed what I believed to be, a cunning plan. Blackadder references aside, give this some thought. single player games off steam. ME2 is a good example. We all had to log onto Nick's steam to get it. Perhaps we should create a steam account and pool games into it. That way, it won't log anyone playing multilayer games off and is generally more accessible. Also, if you wanted to show us all a game you enjoyed, buy it off steam and give it to the clan. I think this is not only practical, but well help build clan spirit and team work. I am happy to spend some of my own dough adding some games to start with.

Notes on the top few:

• Star Wars: The Old Republic is supposedly the most expensive game ever produced by EA and is in a wicked universe, so it might finally be a "WoW-killer" MMO and I'm waiting to play one, so it's really high up.
• Starcraft 2 might be our next "clan RTS" which lots of people want, so it's really high up.

Other Notes:

• MoH Beta multiplayer seems like a depth-lacking BC2 reskin (a solid MW2/BC2 feeling shooter though), but singleplayer might still be good. I'll probably cancel my preorder though since I can already play BC2 or MW1 online.
• This list is probably incomplete.
• Games which are ages away with no media releases, or which likely don't even exist, aren't included, or else "TES MMO" would be sharing Zeus Tier somehow. Also Doom 4 and a few other WinRARs which I've heard are somewhat confirmed.
• Release dates given are best estimate.

Pubbers vs. Pros

So here is the link for pubbers vs. pros demos. 3 rounds on cp_badlands, pl_badwater and cp_gravelpit. Damn awesome to watch.

Things to watch out for are ispyy who is probably MVP for the pubbers, and also the sniper Cannibal who is beast, except on gpit. Enigma is still OP, keep a watch on him and be amazed. Umm... they give Lopert a run at times due to availability which is fun to watch, and confirms him 'as probably not a manager'.

Greats moments include at 3-2 on blands, SS demo rollout. Amazing adapting to the situation. And also SS again in the final round of gpit, showing his swordplay skillz.

Deus Ex

Finished it yesterday. 9.5/10

Felt the ending was a bit abrupt, turned everything around on the bad guy very fast just as he was becoming a massive threat to everything, I think there could have been more missions there.

Loved all the political discussions with random NPCs, like the bartender in Hong Kong trying to convince me that capitalism is FTL. The whole story is awesome, lots of options to change dialogue and get different rewards.

RPG elements worked very well, though you do get very OP later on with all the skills and augs; my sniper rifle killed MiBs and MJ12 Commandos in one headshot with 100% accuracy, though I was playing on medium difficulty. I also found no need to advance the computer skill passed Trained, because that offers plenty of time to make necessary changes to hacked security panels and such.

Graphics are good, at least for the time. No problems there. Sound is great, very atmospheric. Love JC's footsteps too.

I look forward to playing it again in the future. You should too.

Nick's List - 16th June

I have decided to create "Nick's List" - a periodic post by me which contains a list of upcoming vidyas of interest to myself and therefore The Council. Why?

• So that I, Nicholas, can post on the blog about something semi-meaningful
• Because it is genuinely difficult to keep track of all the good upcoming games sometimes
• It acts as a forum of discussion (comments on my updated lists) about the vidyas, coherently between all Council members
  

The list will be sorted into tiers which indicate the potential for gaming excellence - as judged by myself, with welcome influence from others - for each vidya on the list. The tiers will be like so:

Zeus Tier (Z) > God Tier (G) > Demi-god Tier (D) > Messiah Tier (M)

Each tier will have a tier-leader title for the top ranked vidya in that tier, respectively:

Zeus > Athena > Hercules > Jesus
(I am aware that Jesus cannot technically coexist with the ancient Greek gods by the strictest principles of theism, but too bad.
>implying that any of them exist anyway, except for Hercules)

Be prepared for these titles and associated tier-leader titles to progressively change should I find them inadequate during the ranking process. In addition, I will attempt to rank the vidyas within each tier. The number of entries in each tier will not be set-in-stone, because, particularly in times of vidya drought, I might feel it unjust to promote relatively mediocre vidyas into the higher tiers, purely because of a lack of truly deserving ones.

Every time I play a vidya on the list after it's release, I will remove it from the list and then write a brief summary about it - less of a review than just a general flavour as to whether or not it fulfilled it's great expectations, in the minds of myself and the wider Council.

Finally, it might be hip to have other official Council lists, such as Greatest Vidyas of All Time and Greatest Films of All Time, as voted by the most members. I won't make them though. Someone else should be in charge of them, if indeed there exists anyone else who has enough time and also the desire to overcategorize such things into pretentious lists. Comment if you think I'm a dickhead and shouldn't do this list at all, but please state the reason for which you are mad though.

Sans your disapproval, expect the virginal list within a week of this post date.

Over the next few days, this is the plan.

LAN at mine on Thursday afternoon. On Saturday morning, we pack up and move to Nicks. Although i am okay with this, It seems a hasle to move the entire LAN to another house which has similar (if not slightly inferior, sorry nick but i have the mi goreng) capabilities in terms of LAn. Is it worth pulling the LAN apart and reassembling it. Perhaps Nick could host a longer LAN on a different date, and we would get max LAN.

Congrats on finishing exams. I hope you passed most stuff. Anyway, holidays is productive time for the clan (it will be this time anyway) so here are A few things that we have discussed in mild detail that should get done, or at least started.

Enter a TF2 league, the one nabs posted seems good. Practice and strats need work. As this is 6v6, recruitment is no longer a major issue.

I know I have been posting a lot of things, but too bad.
This is basically the most extensive general league in AU/NZ, and is continuous (good). It's generally a higher standard than the bestGN clan ladder (supposedly), but it is recommended to thrust one's team into the mix against a variety of team levels/dynamics.

TF2 Lobby.

Just played on TF2Lobby for the first time, unfortunately that NZ server no longer seems to exist, so I played on an EU one. As you can see, had some latency issued, but they were surprisingly bearable, and was damn fun overall. Started off pretty shaky, then started ass-raping. [KBS] represent, and last cap was genius. Need to learn more about granary positioning, felt weird man. No-one (at least on our team) was using mics, so you don't need to worry about that if you wanna try it out.

As you can see it looks pretty sexy, as it runs on the Chrome 4.0 engine, which is shown strutting its stuff here. (Engine which CoJ:BiB runs on; Ollie finish it already.) Also, not only does it look great, it is seldom buggy, and is efficient, running well on relatively low-end hardwarez. :D

Looks delicious IMO. Publisher is City Interactive, and is scheduled to be out on the 29th of this month, only PC & 360. Their most notable title to date is probably Project Earth, which was generally well received.

Opinion: Worth pirating. :)

Nabs proposed a TF2 frag video using demos from our LANs and hamachi. I think this is a good idea. I think we need more footage, but It might be worth starting to capture some stuff. Anyone got ideas on how we should do this. I think screen capture is best but I don't know anything about it.
